Questions retrofitting early forged rockers

Hey Everyone.

I've got a set of early adjustable forged rockers that I want to use on a 2.8 rsr motor and I have a couple questions about using them.

Are these rockers essentially plug and play with cast iron rockers or are there modifications that need to be made to the cams and/or oiling system to use them?

I noticed that the pads are slightly smaller than the later cast iron pads by about .07 inches so trying to determine if that will affect their use with high lift cams like GE80 or 100. I know some racers use them with high performance cams but don't know if anymodificatios are necessary. Does anyone have experience with this?

Next question is whether normal cam spray oiling system will work or do these need any modifications. If so, what are they?

Any advice or feedback with those that have used them would greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

These are plug 'n play provided that they are in perfect condition.

The pads are hard-chrome plated and must have no pits or damage of any kind. Early ones were not bushed, however these can be modified for bushings (highly recommended).

As long as the spray bar holes are all open and none are obstructed, no additional oiling is needed. I'm no fan of the cam oil line restrictors for this (and other reasons).

Naturally, one should treat the cams & rockers as a "new, break-in" and follow the standard procedures for this.

Steve, thank you very much for your valuable advice. I agree with your thoughts on the restrictors and intend to get the rockers reconditioned.

FWIW, I can recondition them as needed since we do offer this service. I can install bushings (ore re-bush) as well as have them re-chromed, if needed.

Call me for details.
