Cam housing on an 87

While doing a valve adjustment today I noticed the cam housing part numbers start with 964, is this correct for an 87 3.2????
Thanks

Not on my '87...starts with '930'.

Yes the change was in about that time. The only difference in 88 and 90 is the drill for the studs from 8mm to 6 mm.
In the SC there was a 901 carrier with 4 bearing for the first couple years.
There was Carrera cases used in the late SC s'

Thanks, what's the difference between the two, 930 and 964 housings.

The size of the cover studs.

6mm or 8mm studs in the cam carrier. Your valve covers should have the correct size hole. Only matters when you're ordering washers and locknuts. Lol

Porsche started using the 964 casting in '89 when they were producing both the '89 C4 (964 chassis) and the '89 Carrera 3.2

You can use 964 housings from a later model. It's the 930 (aka 965) cam housing for the 3.3 and 3.6 turbo engines. These cam housings are basically the same as the 3.2 cam housing. I have a pair of 964 turbo castings I bought used to replace the wasted housings on my '79 engine.
