magnesium case hardware
All,
Thanks in advance for your help. I ordered a case hardware kit from our host. The kit came with two types of M8 washers (aluminum crush washers, and gold colored curved spring washers). Searches of the forum have revealed conflicting recommendations for what type should be used on the case perimeter. Could someone clarify which washer should be used? In addition what type of nut and washer should be used on the 10mm stud located in the left timing chain housing? Thanks, Dan S. |

The way the factory does it
Spring washers are used inside the engine with regular nuts, ie, head nuts to cam carrier, the 2 studs inside the chain box, etc The flat washers are used on the outside with nylock nuts. Nylocks are not used inside the case. Regular nut, 10x1.5 mm used on mag case inside on the main web. The 3.0/3.2/3.6 uses a 10 mm fine thread. Bruce |

Bruce, thank you.
One other hardware question if you don’t mind. I found this hanger attached to my case near the breather cover. I cannot find it in any parts diagrams. Was this installed by the factory? Thanks, Dan S. ![]() |
