Oil Thermostat - Engine case orientation

HI all, new to forum and fairly new to Porsche cars. Currently I am restoring 85 Carrera 3.2 Targa. I am rebuilding the engine currently using Wayne book. I have a question with regard to the installation on the case mounted oil thermostat, the orientation to be precise. Does it matter which way around it is fitted?
Any help gratefully recieved as I have trawled photos and text, but to no avail.
Thanks

It is bolted offset so it can only install properly.

Like what Bruce said, it would fit correctly only at one position. Try to mount it the other way and you'll find the "off-set" orientation. I was in the same mental state (confused) when I first removed the engine thermostat using Haynes manual in the 90's and forgot to mark it.
