100mm P&Cs on a 70.4 Crank

Guys,

100mm P&C on a 70.4 crank is what liter motor ? a 3.4?

Thanks,
Jimmy

Or would this be a 3.3SS............. I am putting parts together for a NA build that will go in a 73 RSR clone. I have available a new set of mahle 100mm jugs for a great price, so I am going with these instead of a 3.0 Liter.

Yep. Just make sure you use aftermarket rods if you plan on turning this 7K or more since those pistons are quite heavy.

What do you have? Are you going to use the 100MM pieces or do you want to sell them? Are you interested in some 95MM Race Cosworth/Mahle Cyl in trade?

Bob

Bob,

Thanks for the offer, I am going to use them, already have the heads from extreme on order along with pistons.

In our MotoDelta fleet we ran a similar 3.3SS (actually a theoretical 3.317L) with 100mm LN Nickies and JE pistons on a stock SC crank and rods, Weber 46 carbs. Was an excellent engine for many seasons. Its use was mostly short track racing and therefore rarely saw sustained high rpms. Once per season it'd visit Road America. That's why we could get away with the std. SC rods (ARP bolts used) instead of something stronger like Pauter or Carrillo.
