Where to get 3.6 rebuilt?

The 1992 3.6 in my 74 911 needs a rebuild due to an over rev (never let friends drive an untamed air cooled 911). I would go to Jones Autowerks, but they are really backed up right now (been waiting for three months just to drop off a 3.0 for rebuild). Any suggestions? I'm in Texas, but could ship it. Thanks.

Back to stock or a mild to wild rebuild? Henry S. (CA) or Steve W. (OR) come to mind. Both prob worth the effort to ship for a rebuild. Also Patrick Motorsports out in AZ.

Sent you a PM. My mechanic/racing buddy Danny @ Silent Automotive in Austin is a great guy.

He walked me through/oversaw my first air-cooled rebuild and maintains my RSR and many of my other Porsche projects when I don't have time.

Try Mayo Performance in Euless, Tx....halfway between Dallas and Ft. Worth.

Who is this Steve W in Oregon? I am in Oregon and would like to someone who is good at massaging Porsche power plants.

Mark, Check with William Knight over in Houston. I am not sure about Mike Callas in Sealy. Good choice but I am not sure if he is still doing engines.

Ed Mayo is a great choice in DFW area. He was at the HCR. Not sure if you want to travel that far.

Austin area could be Steve Henry in Spicewood.

I guess it depends on what you need done. Just top-end or the full works? Are you changing cams to fit with your PMO induction compared to Motronic?

Thanks a bunch. Now I have a gent to chat with re: some thoughts on power plants for my 1983 911SC.

+1 on Steve Weiner. He has forgotten more than most will ever learn about Porsche air cooled motors. Last year, Steve did all the machine work on my 993 3.6. He also mentored me on the rebuild since I was doing all of the wrenching. Steve has a brand new facility in Portland that he just moved into; but, he has been in business for years.

That new facility is likely Rothsport Racing that is owned by Jeff Gamroth.
Steve and Jeff do many projects together.
