Lower Compression/ Thicker head gasket??
I have a 85 Euro TL 3.2 and want to either turbo or supercharge, do they offer a thicker head gasket to lower compression?
|
I think you can adjust the compression a slight amount with head gaskets but not by a lot. Move the height of the cylinder too much and you start to have issues with fitment/alignment of other components like cam towers.

There are a number of bolt on turbo kits (search Protomotive for example) that run low boost so you won't need to lower the comp. Having driven one I can confirm they are a lot of fun.

I am a virgin to the porsche engine, I am pulling the heads to have the valve guides replaced and was hoping to lower compression without major work like pistons/rods/crank. Are they running these kits on a 10.3 to 1 compression engine?
I am not looking for alot of boost, maybe 6 psi |
6psi is all the bolt on kits run anyway

Suggest replacing your more desireable ROW pistons for a set of lower compression US pistons, and/or use the proceeds toward turbo-compatible pistons (factory or aftermarket). Perform other turbo-performance mods (ARP rod bolts, turbo distributor/dig. ign. box, etc.), then proceed. You can then boost the engine to your build).
Inform yourself with all the ramifications of turbocharging. Resist overdoing it as it gets expensive. Maximum Boost - Turbocharger Systems *-* Bentley Publishers - Repair Manuals and Automotive Books Sherwood |
