bench testing a motor
My build is currently stalled due to waiting for some machine shop work and a few custom parts ... so i would like to spend the next week building a test stand to run the motor out of the car .. I'm sure this is not the first time this has been asked but i cant find any references under searches.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with the electrical end of the equation? a little background full rebuild on a 76 row turbo pretty much stock build sc cams and with a andile intercooler the bench will consist of a battery a tac a oil pressure gauge oil lines in and out through a small oil cooler a dry sump tank small fuel tank and a fuel pump oil filter what i am missing is a wiring diagram on where i need to connect power and anything else to the existing engine harness . any guidance would be greatly appreciated i crosses posted this in the turbo forum if this is frowned upon let me know i will belete Regards Ned 80 sc steel wide body 911 with a 3.0l 76 row turbo ( fair weather driver ) 55 356 continental cab ( concours car ) Last edited by gorskined; 02-21-2020 at 07:08 AM.. |

Seems like a lot of work for something you can’t put under load.
I would test stand to make sure the oil pressure was good and compression where it should be so I could ship across the country without worry of return. Bruce |

I already have the stand used for dry sump type 4 motors I just need to weld up a mounting frame to hold the 930 motor and trans then swap out the fuel pump and figure out the wiring. Easy peasy.. I would rather chase bugs on the bench than in the car .

Maybe try finding the instructions for this? Not too many wires in the photo...

There’s a gentleman selling a test stand here. Review what his rig has as a guide to what you need. You may have to rely on factory electrical diagrams for details.
