Ignition Timing Settings

I'm requesting help regarding ignition settings for a 1968 non-standard motor. This motor was recently rebuilt before I bought the car. Below are the motor specs known.

1. 2.0 Aluminum Case Motor
2. 2.2 911E Piston and Cylinders from a 71E
3. 2.0 Heads, 42/38 Intake/Exhaust valves, 32/32 exhaust ports from 1969E
4. WEBER 40IDAP3C1 carburetors
5. MSD Ignition
6. Compression Ratio Unknown

I interested in breaker gaps, dwell angles, timing settings, spark plug selection and spark plug gaps. Maybe you can recommend a book that I can purchase. I have Wayne's Porsche 911 Engines Book; however, this book really covers ignition timing data for standard motors.

Any input would be helpful.

I can't give you exact timing settings, but these should work. I also have no MSD experience, but a search will show quite a few threads with that information.
Points gap should be around 0.016". Set the gap, and then when running adjust it to get the proper dwell reading. Marelli distributors used 40' dwell, and Bosch was 38' dwell. At idle, part of the timing will depend on which distributor you have and whether it uses a vacuum pod or not. Maximim advance is more important, and to be safe, should probably be 30' at 6,000 rpm.
