Early 911 question

I have located/isolated an oil leak on my 1971 911T that appears to be where the Driver Side Cam Chain Housing bolts onto the block. I was wondering if it's possible to remove the driver side cam chain housing without removing the engine..
Thanks...
Steve

Yes, its possible, but darned clumsy since the muffler, rear sheet metal, cam sprocket, idler, and tensioner all have to removed to get the chain housing off the engine case.

Naturally, you will need to re-time the cam when you are done.

Sounds fun.. Cam Timing will require some reading before attempting..
Thanks...

BTW, Muffler, Heat Exchangers already off to attempt to locate the cause of the major oil leak..

I would do partial drop to get more clearance.

If you remove the 2 bumper guards, then the panel behind the license plate (not really a hard job at all) you will have plenty of room to perform this task. Especially since muffler is already off.
