Cams for 964

I am in the process of gathering the bits together to start the rebuild of my 964 transplant motor which is going into my sc . It had a spun rod bearing ,thats hopefully now resolved with the purchase of a good second hand 993 crank, rods and pistons .

For info I will be running 993 headers and getting a live remap done when run in . I have heard that 300 bhp should be possible keeping the engine internals stock . This was my plan not looking to spend a fortune on the slippery slope to more power just looking for a strong reliable street car .

Today however I got round to stripping out the cams which looked all to be good untill I found one bad lobe , very annoying but predictable maybe .

What I would like to know is there a no brainer thing to do here ie putting in hotter cams to get some extra "free" bhp as it looks like these need replacing or a regrind at least . thanks Henry

Camshafts are great upgrades, and I am extremely fond of playing around with them. I have access to profiles which are compatible with stock valvetrain, or if idle quality is not an issue, with upgraded springs and retainers, you could go with aggressive profiles to yield even more reliable power. PM if you need more info.

thanks , I have that ,bought it a couple of years ago must read it again I doesn't cover the 964 though which is a shame , I realise they are similar though.

My current thinking is to use a schrick cam kit with the springs and Ti caps seems pretty good value for myself in the UK with the euro exchange rate . It would be good to hear if someone has experience with the Schrick cams .

Thanks Bisimoto will pm you .
