2.2 to 2.7 intake/exhaust port size question
Have a 2.2e engine. I recently rebuilt and have 2.7l cam, rods, cylinders and JE 9.5:1 Pistons. I currently have 2.2 heads (stock is 32/32 ports, 46/40 valves) that have the intake port bored out to 35mm and had the exhaust ports cleaned up however still 32mm.
Essentially my engine is now a 2.7. I have the same intake port size and same valve sizes however smaller exhaust. Please give me your opinions on this setup. Also, I am not very interested in getting a new set of heads cause my heads are already rebuilt. Getting a rebuilt set of 2.7 heads would prob be 2k+. Opinions? |
Port the exhaust out to 35 and you are good.
Still E cams? MFI? Maybe some matching of the manifods to the heads is in order. |
2.2 engines have a 66mm crankshaft stroke. If you do not have the later 2.4 crankshaft (70.4mm) you will not have 2.7L displacement. 90mm bore X 66mm stroke = 2.5L displacement. If you do have the 70.4mm crank, never mind. If you don't, time to re-calculate the CR.

Agreed. The factory ran 35/35 and 36/35 (intake/exhaust port sizes) on the 911S and RS engines, so would probably work well. If your heads are already built and it would be a pain to port them at this point, just run it as is ... |
