2.4 Cam install position

So, I just finished by build on my 3.0 and figured I would reseal my 2.2 stroked to 2.4.

I pulled the head and put new seals in reset the cam tower, installed the cam and intake rocker to set the cam. It is an "S" cam with an "S" on the end of the cam along with a single dot. On my 3.0 I put the dot straight up and then timed it but when I spin this cam to point the dot up it is just coming off the lobe and "clicks" past the lobe which doesn't allow the dot to stay it the 12 o'clock position.

I am positive that the correct cam is in because i pulled and installed them one at a time.

Should the "S" be in the 12 o'clock position? It seems that the cam is on the bottom of the lobe when the "S" is up.

Is the keyway up? Chain tensioned?

They say the dot but it's the keyway you need to know where it is

Just checked and the keyway is in line with the dot. I don't have any tension on the chain yet buy if the rocker is not all the way on the low side of the cam the valve will not be completely shut.

I have the engine on Z1 and I can see that the piston is all the way up. I have the rocker set set but not perfectly adjusted and if I try to move the cam so that the dot is up it pushed the valve down and contacts the piston.

What am I doing wrong?

Ok, I did goof a bit. I started by installing the right cam so I am actually working on #4.

Same issue though

On #4 the cam dot has to be down because if it's up the intake is opening.
