Just trying to get a sense of dollars to hp for my future rebuild.... without asking you to give exact costs, would this build be in the $20K-$25K range?

I kinda want to do a tougher N/A build on my SC, but boost is just so tempting.

Great to see continued interest in this build...

Q: did a new cam get chosen and installed over that winter...??
Specs and results...?

I am very interested to know if a new cam was used and how it performed...!!

scarceller 03-02-2019 12:41 PM

Best cam was the DC21 results in this thread further up.

scarceller 03-02-2019 12:43 PM

Likely 25-30K range with twin plug and the MAF setup.

Also, look at this single plug build I tuned, solid results for very basic simple 3.4L upgrade. You can now even do a 3.5L with 100mm cyls from LN Engineering that drop right into the case, no machine work required.

At that price point wouldn't a 3.6 swap be 10K cheaper for similar power?

clutch-monkey 03-03-2019 12:41 AM

check out catorce's thread for billet 3.6's^

Geronimo 03-03-2019 01:13 PM

Pretty sure that would break any budget before you start. lol

clutch-monkey 03-03-2019 01:43 PM

idk- any 3.6 is going to need a refresh while it's out. may as well start fresh and go billet haha

New adventures of this build.

At the St. Louis Concours d'Elegance. 2nd Place in the European Cars category. Behind a 1967 Austin Healey that would have been smoked on the expressway. The judges may not have realized that this is somewhat unusual 1985 Carrera with a pseudo-RS engine thanks to Terry and Sal.

Congrats on 2nd place! That's a super clean car with a real strong motor, it's a sleeper!
Enjoy it for years to come!

Sal and/or Terry, if you guys still monitor this thread do you have a feel for what if any difference there would be if this engine had ITB's that were tuned properly?
I'm considering a similar build as this but with ITB's and wondered your opinions.
Thanks in advance
Tony

With itb's you would run high over lap cam and make more power.

aircooledfan911 06-22-2019 08:36 PM

Hopefully, if everything lines up, the car will return to Terry this winter for more “fiddling”. Stay tuned.
