mixture/fuel milage

What are your experiences? I have a 2.7 hipo in a 71T. It has E cams, 9.5 JE, 35 intake manifold (67S?, 75 911S heads (35mm) and webers. exhaust is kinda smelly. At a steady 75 or 80 on interstate only, it gets 19 mpg. Around town probably 12 to 15 depending on how much I foot it. It is satisfactorily fast. Is this jetted too rich or is this normal for this setup? Thanks Henry

Get an AFR tester, then you'll know for sure. Doesn't seem unreasonable. Idles maybe a little rich.

Without AFR information, anything further is just guesswork.

What is your jetting configuration?

Float levels Perfect?

Throw out the worthless clock and put an afr gauge in it's place....I monitor mine and adjust as required (usually when the Az heat hits and lowers air density and again in winter).
Usually slight adjustments but also lets me know if everything is working correctly...my wur adjusts enrichment under load (euro) yours prob the lamda but you'll know if it is properly working too.
It tells you a great deal about your tune and you can split the dif. between performance and mileage.
It also keeps you ahead of a blowing up air box.

Thanks for replies all but one very helpful (its a carbed 2.7 not cis and if anybody is hot for the complete cis sitting on my shelf let me know), The jetting is by the spec of the websters. AFR will be checked I'm not sure I want to see rwhp figures though. Mostly I hoped for others to say I get x mpg and this is my engine setup dyno hp etc. So on my similar set up with a 2.5 I also got 19 mpg on strict interstate at 75 and 80 mph. Maybe I should start a thread gimme your mileage numbers. best Henry

Maybe just head down to the local shop and have them stuff the gas analyzer up the pipe and get a base reading. Might cost $10....

I have a wide band setup that is very good to use for tuning. Almost too much info!!

I get 23 on the hiway and 18 around town with my Ram 2500 with a Cummins :-)

Reiner, what sort of AFR gauge did you use to replace the clock? Was it made for the purpose or did you build it?

AEM gauge...I used the body of a non functional clock as it slips right in and can be removed like the other stock gauges. [IMG][/IMG]
