2.2 Rebuild Advice

Hi, I have a 71 911T 2.2 I need to rebuild. What upgrades can I do to the engine to get more more torque and HP?

Hi Buddan,

The easiest & most effective way to get better performance would be a displacement increase to 2.5 litres. That adds torque & HP everywhere in the RPM range.

Since your case needs to come apart for the rebuild and receive all the necessary machine work on these Mag cases, its not difficult to modify the case to accept 90mm P/C's.

I've done quite a number of these over the past 40+ years and it makes a very nice driving car.

I did this modification in 1985 and it was a fun, great running motor that lasted till I retired it last year.

I used E cams, Weber carbs, and opened up the ports to 35mm.

Good luck with your build.

Thank you Steve and Gordon for the feedback.

Steve, I wanted to do the rebuild on my own. Do you do machine work only?
