BTR motor rebuild

I have a 1981 BTR that needs a complete motor- I might as well, as there is no compression in two of 6
My question is who to trust with this motor. I have RUF paper work it was put together in Germany by RUF as well as a 5 speed hook up.. I wantit done to specs to preserve the car.
So thoughts gentleman?
thank for your help
Doc

I guess that depends if you want it done locally or you want to ship the motor somewhere else. There's a lot of people that can do a good job rebuilding it.

Perfect Power in Buffalo Grove, IL used to be a Ruf dealer and I know he has built a few BTRs.

They built both of my 930 engines.
3.1 has 15 years of use and 3.5 has 11 years.
Zero issues. I just wish they would work on water-cooled as well.

Not to take anything away from any builder mentioned in this thread but last I knew the NA Ruf distributor was in Southfield... Probably worth a phone call given your proximity.

Done several BTRs and BTR-IIs.

Here's one we did in 2013. The owner already had a carbon fiber fan shroud and had painted his fan red, wanted to keep both, so we refreshed them while remanufacturing everything else to as-new condition.
(Yes, 1-3 air duct missing, we were waiting on one from Germany.)
Even remanufactured the unique "Grosse K27" -- no, those are not the same as the old K29/27 hybrid turbos everyone built.

I wouldn't put much stock in who was a Ruf distributor. Some of the operations they have licensed over the years haven't been the best. You want to pick a good engine builder. It doesn't matter much whether they have a Ruf history or not. There's some good ones here.

For an engine I like to work with someone local so I can manage the job. Too many long distance blackhole stories around here. I'd probably call Claudio first and talk to him about it.
