1983 3.0 SC Fuel Head rebuild
Dear Friends
I have a 1983 911 SC that has been parked for years. Now the car is at the mechanic who said that the FUEL HEAD needs rebuilding, so I have a few questions: 1-)Do you guys know a good place to rebuild this part? 2-)Is that something that with a set of new seals and o rings I can do at home? 3-)Also, how to he figure out that the fuel head needs rebuilding, what are the procedures to troubleshot it ? 4-) Does the 1978 911´s share the same injection system in this case the same fuel head of the 1983 911´s ? Thanks |

The biggest problem with fuel dist. Is the center pin freezing in place.
I would soak it in a bath of WD40 for a couple days, pull it out and drain Using air pressure, pressurize the center port on the top to see if you can get the center pin to move out. Tap it in and out til it rides smoothly. Bruce I have a couple extra fuel heads. |

FD evaluation........
Ricardo,
Unless your mechanic bench tested your FD, it would be difficult to evaluate the condition of the FD. I could lend you a fully rebuilt and calibrated FD-077 if you need one or test your FD for FREE. I could send one to you and return it later. So testing and evaluating the old FD is imperative. PM sent. Tony |

Hello Tony,
Don´t get me wrong but, are you crazy?! LOL ;-) Do you work with those? Do you have rebuild unis to sell? I´ll ask my mechanic tomorrow, about this, let´s see if he will allow me or are willing to test your unit and then i´ll let you know But I´ll like to thank you for the help in advance! Ricardo |

Ricardo, You might think I am crazy to offer such a deal with someone I don't even know. I've been giving this offer to numerous PP members for several years now with no problem. On the other side, it would be stupid or dumb on your part to replace a very expensive part like FD without verifying if is really defective or bad. Ask your mechanic what made him think that you needed a replacement FD? Any test result he could share with you? As a matter of fact, I just received a package containing a FD from another PP member that I loaned last month. Tony |

Hi Tony,
I´m just kidding, I´m afraid my mechanic is changing this part with no good reason at all, just to charge me for the labor and the part. I´ll try to contact him and get an answer, The i´ll be glad to accept your loan for the part Thanks again |
