993 Cam Repairs

One of the cams from my stock 993 3.6 sustained galling damage to a couple of lobes. Who is the best "go to" shop for repair of the cam. Since the damage is isolated to two lobes and about the size of a dime on each lobe, I believe the cam is salvageable.

Many years ago, I had an oil starvation failure of one the early pressure fed cams from an early 911. I was able to get a shop to weld up the damaged lobes and then they were able to regrind the repaired areas. That repair lasted for at least 60k miles until I sold the car, so the weld repair appeared to be successful.

Webcam,....great job, really nice people.

The real issue is finding out WHY this happened otherwise you will enjoy an 'encore' performance.

Bringing an old thread back...

When you have one pitted lobe, what are the repair options?

Does webcam repair and grind just the one lobe? Do they weld and just grind the repair area?

Do you grind the whole cam? Both cams?

If not just one lobe, what's the rationale?
