Show us your oil filters!
 

While doing some research earlier this year, I found a few pictures of oil filter elements from engine disasters, but not much for filters from healthier engines. I thought it might be useful to have a compilation of pictures for our collective reference. In addition to a picture, a few details would be good to include:
- Details about the engine
- Usage (street, race, etc.)
- Type of filter
- Mileage/hours on filter
- Mileage/hours on engine
- Anything else noteworthy - e.g. just after rebuild, just before the engine expired, etc.


I'll start with a pic from my 3.5L 911 racecar. This engine had about 12 hrs on it at the time of the picture and about 2 hrs on the filter. The filter element is a large Canton that I use as an inspection filter in the scavenge oil circuit. The engine was running great, but I became concerned about seeing the metal so was monitoring that closely. After seeing another filter similar to the one in this picture, I have taken this engine out of service for a rebuild rather than wait for it to explode on track!
