Please show me your engine drop stand
Hey Gents,
Getting ready for my engine drop. When using a lift, what is everyone using to drop their engine on? I was thinking of using a engine cradle with plywood on top. |
I just use a furniture dolly. Under $10 at Home Depot or Harbor Freight.

Other options are motorcycle lifts and lift tables. HF has lift tables that support 500 or 1,000 pounds depending on the model. HF is ok for occasional use in this case.

You're right about wanting to work higher. I used an ATV jack with my MaxJax and had to keep the lift low. Negated some of the advantages.
I bought the HF 1000# table for my next engine drop. I plan to work out a mechanism to control angle to get the transmission in and out. More importantly a positive lock to hold the table up. That thing is one hydraulic leak from being a guillotine. |
I was thinking one of these with a platform on top.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1446497125.jpg

HF lift table. Works well. Can also transfer the engine to stand instead of using a cherry picker.

I have a four post lift. I just use some heavy saw horses and 2x4s. Then I use the lift to raise it off them for the engine stand.
