Step by step engine removal thread?

Hey Birds,

I have searched, but can't seem to find a step by step engine removal thread here.

Anything out there?

Thanks
Rod

Drain oil, disconnect everything, position atv Jack, remove two tranny and two engine mount bolts, lower engine slightly, slide it back, lower some more, slide it back (repeat until tranny shift shaft clears), lower to the floor, slide it out from under the car. It really is that simple and I'm not trying to be a wise ass, what you need to disconnect depends on the year, but figure at least two oil lines, two fuel lines, two axle flanges, the shifter coupler (inside car), throttle linkage, clutch (cable or hydraulics), multiple electrical connectors, and breather hose(s).

Have at it!

I recommend you sit down with the Factory Workshop Manual and go through all the steps and subsystems required for a 3,2 carrera-- and then modify the list as appropriate. Here is an example of one for an SWB

If its your first time I would recommend having a second set of hands incase things start to go sideways. Easier to have them there standing/halping then having to hear your screams or worse drop the engine. They dont bounce well.

I'd second grabbing a PWM or Haynes and read and comprehend before hand. Its really not that hard.

Good luck!

Perfect!
I guess I should have been more specific and asked for a checklist.
I know what I need to do for the most part, just too lazy to make a list and I'm a list kind of guy. :D

And yes I have enough manuals to make myself dangerous and will review everything.
