964 in Hawaii

A very nice lady in Hawaii needs a 964 overhaul. One owner, well cared for.
Any recommendations for her?

How much is shipping from Hawaii to Fallbrook, CA?

There is a great engine builder there...

I'd fly over there and drive it to you for her...if it weren't for the whole crossing the Pacific thing.

I have used Matson quite a few times for my shipping needs from HI, CA, and Asia. If she wants the car shipped to the mainland for the overhaul.

Thanks, but still no recommendation?

Two shops downtown in Honolulu, both do great work they are always booked. Total overhaul, engine, body, paint? that's gonna be crazy money here. If you take it to these places they will get it done.

Motor Werkes in Kakaako, Honolulu.
Ph: (808) 596-7758.
Its a very busy shop & the owner knows air cools.

Eclectic 911 is putting you on the right track. If you cannot get a hold of Tim Knight at Motorwerks, I would recommend John Mayers who is located over in Waimanalo (808) 259-8701. He has been working on these cars for decades, works out of his house and would be very competent to oversee a rebuild.

If for some reason Tim and John are unavailable, I also strongly recommend Scott at German Auto Specialists (808) 836-1675, although from what I know he services cars more than doing rebuilds. All three guys run very small shops and do most, if not all work, themselves.

If there's any other help I can offer, please don't hesitate to let me know.
