Case work, do I need to send them the crank also?
 

I just split the cases on my 69' T and I'm packing it all up to ship to Ollies for an align bore, time serting etc. My question is do they need my crank to do their case work or can I take my crank and rods somewhere else? I'm not keen on shipping the crank.

The crank needs to be cleaned and checked for cracks, journal size and runout. Ollie's are experts at this. It is not too difficult to ship the crank. I would send it along with your case and other parts.

No, they don't need the crank to do the case work but they wouldn't be a bad choice for the job. Be sure to send all your case studs with your case. I had pulled all mine before I shipped it and Ollies asked that I send them in a 2nd shipment.

Cant be a problem to ship the crank if you are shipping a case?
Just bolt the case together with a few nuts and with the old bearings and the crank, or am I missing something?

When I spoke to Ike at Ollies he said that everything needs to be apart when they receive the parts, yes you can put the case halves together but not bolted and the crank separate. Good point about the case studs, I will send those along too.

I took my top end components to Ted at German precision and Jay's machine shop. They are local and I enjoyed chatting with them both, was thinking of taking the crank and rods to them instead of shipping them.

On the other hand Ike was awesome on the phone and I hear they are the best! I will call Ike again and clarify the shipping requirements.
