3.6 conversion issue (no fuel)
I'm installing a 964 3.6 engine in my -69 car.
I've made the conversion harness myself and all other wiring, but the engine won't start. *I have spark. *I have fuel pressure But the injectors don't fire. It like the DME is cutting the fuel on purpose. Have I forgotten something. Is there any "safety feature" that cuts fuel that I might have missed? Any ideas? |
This is getting really annoying.... Been over everything...
The last thing is the battery and voltage drop. The voltage drops really low, 8.5-9.5 volts when cranking. Anyone who knows how low it can drop and the dme still work? |
I've seen the electrics in my 964 flake out after it sits too long in the 'run' position without actually running, but I have to imagine that the drop-during-cranking was something the designers expected. Are you running a modern-sized battery? I have a hard time imagining a 1969-sized battery could effectively spin a manly 3.6.
Do you have access to a Bosch Hammer or analogous (Durametric, etc...) scanner to watch what's occurring in real-time? |
Just a far out tip: a friend of mine struggeled with hes car for quite some time until he finally found out that he'd mixed the wieres to the injectors. + on - and vice versa. It's far out - but will really be confusing if it's wrong..

Success! Today it started up!!
Could not believe it all 6 injectors were stuck closed!! I connected 12v directly from the battery, that freed them up and they started to "click". |
