A another piston squirters question

I have been trying to get some squirter's to work.
Have read a lot and its always talking about clogging.
I thought that too, so I tried to get them work with different cleaner products
but the last one would´t work.

I decided to remove this one and replace it. I carefully drilled out the top end/nozzle plate and then I could have a look inside of the tube.
I was really surprised, it was totally clean inside the tube but the ball was stucked in the bottom.

Is this problem so simple that there is not clogging problem but the ball i stucked of some reason and the ball will get lose when the temperature is rising.
The alu tube will expand and the steel ball get loose and everything works well because alu warms up earlier the steel?

I have a couple of squirter's that the nozzle plate is little bit further inn.
Does this make any problem? They spray perfect.
But then the spring pressure on the ball will be bigger. Needs higher oil pressure.

I guess this is suspension thing is because everything is put together with a spring in the middle and the tube need to be closed.

My thoughts is when the temperaturee is rising the alu tube will expand and the nozzle plate (steel) will go out to the end position.

Have some other of your guys those thoughts as well?

Usually they stay open, the ball does not seat so oil is always passing thru, only time I have had some that were stuck closed is because someone was screwing around with a wire in the hole and don't understand how they work. Loctite the new one in and stake a few spots around the new one:

What is the reason for the spring if they should stay open all the time? Its not possible to stay open with the spring inside.
The spring does close the squerter with the ball.
When I test them they need some pressure to opens.

they don't stay open all the time, closed at idle or low oil pressure, I think they open around 20 or 25# When you test them they should take some pressure to open.

But how come you say this?

Usually they stay open, the ball does not seat so oil is always passing thru.

I know they opens at some pressure.
But maybe this is problems. The ball is stucked.
Its no clogging problem. They think it is clogging.
And I guess I will opens when it heats up

As with any part exposed to motor oil, sludge can get in there over time, especially if the engine has been sitting. The sludge can either plug the hole, or make the ball stick in the "open" position. You can try spraying some solvent in there and let it soak for a while and then apply air pressure to test the squirter.

Originally posted by Neilca, here's a diagram of the squirter. So, as pressure increases it pushes the ball off the seat allowing oil into the squirter. I would think it would be hard pressed for the ball to stick in the closed position:

I have tried all this and I got 2 of 3 to work. Nr 1-3.
Nr 4-6 where just fine.
As I said, I drilled out the last one and it was completely clean inside.
Therefore I thought the ball was stucked for some other reason.

Now, I just waiting for the new squirter but I just wanna discuss if there is some other reason why the ball is stucked.
