78 Euro 3.0L on 91 octane gas in CA

I have to believe there has been some discussion on this topic, but I can't find it. If it exists, can someone send me the links? I don't want to start a duplicate thread.

Essentially, what I am after is what others have done, or know about running CIS, with 964 cams, 9:8.1 euro pistons in a 78sc(which is for all intents and purposes is a euro engine-less the cams of course) SSI's on 91 octane CA pump gas. No interest in additives. I need to make this a bullet proof reliable car. Twin plugging is absolutely an option(I think Electromotive is the way, but talk to me). Remember, bullet proof. If there is any intel on putting in knock(in the case of Electromotive XDS) as well, I'm all ears. Not going with a 964 dist cuz of smog. Would run single plug for smog with timing adjust, then back to twin plug.(smog is 2speed idle, not on rollers here).

thanks all

I have a 3.2SS with 9.8 compression, J&S Safeguard with display built into the clock.

This engine has given me zero problems here in Canada on 91 octane, the J&S hardly ever displays knock and then only very, very little and that is inaudible to my ear.

44,000 km on the engine, no issues. Note the car lives at 1000m so that does help knock a little, but in my many drives there has been no changes I have noticed with altitude. I do always use a first rate gas supplier (Shell, Exxon etc).

I've an '83 row large port same comp.as yours in Az. We have 91 as our 'super' here too.
I run it year round (very hot) without issues so far and 28k miles since I picked it up after a top end rebuild.

According to several long time mechanics I've talked to locally, the Techron additive package in Chevron 91 bumps the octane rating up to 92. Check with your local wrench to get their take on it of course.
