Will this tin set work for 3.2ss with headers and no engine mounted cooler
 

As the title suggests, I found a set of tins that I can use and I was going to get them cleaned up and powder coated. Wanted to check if there is anything I need to worry about with this set and my build? I wont have heat, using carbs, no engine mounted cooler; setup is simple in those terms. I dont think I really need any ducting tubes on these tins, so I should be OK?

Wanted to check with the experts as Id prefer to use this set vs. buy an expensive fiberglass set.

Also included pics of my shroud (has no oil cooler routing) and air guides for cylinders.

You didn't post a pic of the engine console, but I assume it is correct. I would bolt it all up to check fit. Also, you could weld up the duct holes in the side pieces. I believe you are twin plug, so you will need room for three plug wires on each side. Make sure you consider space for the distributor cap side of the wire to pass through. You are missing or not showing the cooling duct locking tabs. Make sure you have those!

Is one of the items in the top left or right the engine console?

Yeah, Im building a twin plug, but the wires will be coming form the breather cover area and Im not using a distributor. Im not super familiar with the layout of the tin, will that make a difference in tin?

That looks like an excellent condition early shroud. Kind of a shame to cut it. You will have to trim the intakes to fit around the CIS ports, notch for the coil post on the 5ar fan housing, and drill out 3 holes for the bell crank mount.

CIS ports? I'll be using PMOs and their intake manifolds.. still need to trim those? I guess I can check it out at my shop!

I have a couple more shrouds I can use, but they all have the ducting on the top going back to the oil cooler (which I removed), so I cannot use those :(

I feel like I need to drill a hole for a stud that's extruding near the breather cover too?

Yeah, that post is for the bell crank mount. If you are going to mount the bell crank on the manifold, then you could remove the studs and not have to cut that. The intake ports are a different shape on CIS heads. If you got manifolds and spacers from PMO they will have that same asymetric profile and wont fit through the holes in that shroud. The early (up to 68?) fan housings didn't have the coil mount.

Upper left in your picture. Are you sure that shroud will fit your engine? I thought the early spacing was smaller than your 3.0. I would bolt everything up to check fit and determine what to weld vs. what to cut. Even mounted by the breather, you will need access holes in the side tin for the lower plug wires.

sounds like I might have to open those holes up a bit!

how can I tell if the air deflectors in the second picture (first post) are the later style (77 on), which are thinner and supposed to lower your head temps 10-15 F?

ideas or pics for comparison?

The -2.7 air deflectors are different from 3.0 and up, check before you send them out to the PC. IIRC 2.7 and down are too short for a 3.2
Just stick them in and see if you can get a spring clip on them.

There's a picture in Wayne's book that shows how to modify the earlier version for the improved air flow.
