Intermediate shaft timing chain gear replacement.
Apologies if this has been thrashed before but my search yielded nothing.
Trying to removed the rear timing chain gear from the intermediate shaft. Removed the big circlip, and it looks like it just slides on with a woodruff key, but even with a bit of heat and a puller it won't budge. Any tips or things I'm missing? I have a replacement (this one's missing a few teeth) on another shaft with the same problem. The workshop manual is silent on the subject also! Thanks Mick |

Excellent thanks

Well tried all that - MAP gas for 10 minutes+, puller pulled up as tight as I dare, even a bit of penetrating oil ..... but no joy. Any other ideas? Please...

What size puller? I have the big craftsman one with the forged arms. Pulled them off.
Probably you have some galling or corrosion on the mating surfaces. Actually a few heat and quench cycles might help break the bond. |
I used a press and it came right off

All done. The penetrating oil overnight might have done the trick, but a bigger puller had it off both the old and replacement assemblies without any heat, and the new one on the original shaft with the press, again without heat. Thanks to all.
