My mechanic used loctite 574 on the case through bolt washers-how can I get them out?
I was doing a dry run case seal and I could not get two case-through bolts completely through the case and discovered that 2 washers were still stuck in the case with what looks like Loctite 574. How can I get these out??
You can see the hole on the left still has a washer in it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1458156827.jpg |
A little heat maybe.

Heat got one out but I mangled the crap out of the washer hitting at an angle with a screwdriver to get it to twist. The other wouldn't budge and now it's just mangled stuck in the case. Great.

drill bit maybe?

Can you get a hook under the ID edge and use a slide-hammer to gently tap that out?

A tapered easy out should grab it.
You always have to be careful with the C 2 cases and the washers getting stuck. Bruce |

I ord'd a tapered easy out - didn't know what one was but Im sure I'll uses it again. I always love excuses to buy new tools.

Even using a tapso ypu get the teeth to bite onto the washer edge. Use a micro butane torch and put oencil flame on washer and with tap in it gently tap the tap sideways. . Should free up. Goodluck Thanks Rob.

so Ive really marred this washer up trying to get it out. Ive used a torch on it and the tapered easy out and the darn thing wont budge. Ive managed to get out the other ones out that were also glued in but this one is a real pain. Any other ideas? Thankshttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1458938611.jpg

Stick a steel rod through from the other side, flush to the washer and mig a couple of good spot welds betwixt the two. Tap it out.

That was my alternative thought. Get a rod, bend the end, cut where it starts to bend and form a little tooth on it. Stick something in the washer side next to the rod to keep the tooth from popping out.
