First stab a porting Porsche heads please critique

So I got a chance to play with a set of 3.2 recently. Not much to do they are really Good out of the box a little trimming around the guide boss area and flattening a widening the short side a bit going. To to a radius cut in the exhaust and blended 3 angle in the intake after I install the 8 mm guides so far so good.

Thanks I Just did Some minimal clean up these a for a buddy of mind he building a 3.2 and I needed to fund my Ducati engine rebuild.

Very nice! Looks to have the perfect sheen on it... You can polish the exhaust side though..

3literpwr 03-17-2016 02:51 AM

Ports look clean. It might be advantageous to try and get them on a flowbench for review. That said, as long as you're not hogging out lots of material, your should not have to worry too much about slowing velocity.

Wheelsonly 03-17-2016 07:41 AM

Polishing the exhaust ports would probably not result in and gains if anything I would like to use a barrier coating in the ports.. As for the intake of the where mine I would have left them rough like I did on my turbo mustang heads I did this is done with just a carbide burr

Looks gooder enough !
For perfection, you could CC them and make sure they are all close.
If you are racing you can get rid of some guide.
For street not so much.
Make sure there is no "overhang" from the valve seat on the back side of the head .
The port should flow right on past the seat, so to speak.

Beautiful work.. but please tell me that isn't a little crack by that valve guide?

Wheelsonly 03-28-2016 02:32 PM

Yes it is..

faapgar 03-28-2016 02:44 PM

crack

I thought so but it is on the intake side a little cooler.

IXjamesXI 03-28-2016 03:18 PM

Ah I was going to ask about that. So on the exh side it would be more reason for concern due to higher temps?

Wheelsonly 03-28-2016 03:23 PM

With these type of guides there now way for it to fall through if it falls out

manbridge 74 03-28-2016 06:54 PM

Nice work.

Are the Manley valves sodium filled? Maybe with modern materials it is not needed?

Wheelsonly 03-29-2016 11:56 AM

No they're not sodium there about 50 bucks a pop stainless valves with 5/16 stems

racing97 03-29-2016 01:15 PM
