Install cam tower end cap
Curious if there is any technique to installing these end caps on the cam towers?
I figure to remove them, I can just drill through and use a slide hammer to pull it out? I have two new caps and one cam tower is missing an end cap, so I'll replace them both. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5ov5dww4zu...peg?dl=0&raw=1 |
I just take an extension through the cam hole and drive it out. It's not a wear item so replacing it is superfluous. I do switch sides on the carriers so the cam has new bearing surfaces on the drive end. Replace the cap with sealant.

Oops I see you're already on the job with the "freeze plugs" SmileWavy

nice to know the correct term! and I just need to push them in with sealant? I have some thread sealant.

I would just swab some orange 574 around the OD of the cap and tap it into place. Whatever extra is scraped off as you knock it in place, just wipe it off.

Do you take any measurements or just swap the carriers as a matter of course? It just requires swapping ends for the oil fittings and cam opening plugs, right? |
