Oil tank placement on engine test stand
I recently built a engine test stand for my 2.7 build. I have an extra oil tank that I am going to use. I have the stand built so the engine is at waist level. Would it be a problem if I weld up a separate stand for the oil tank that would be placed on the ground? Not sure if it matters if the tank is lower than the engine?

The level difference would be similar to this picture. |
Oil tank location and position........
The height of the oil tank level is more critical than its location with respect to the engine. I am away from home and have no access to my notes. Will be back home after 7 weeks on road in a few days. PM me if you still need the height reference this weekend. I have two engine test stands and built differently in many aspects except for the oil tank height with respect with the motor. Or find a similar car and measure the height or distance from bottoms of engine and oil tank to a reference horizontal line (control). Have the car parked on a level ground or on a lift. The key is to determine the difference in height or distance between the two (engine and oil tank) using the bottom sections.

Height is critical. The S-hose needs to have a minimum 5 deg pitch downwards from the tank to the engine.

You want the outlet of the tank at least 1-2 inches above the inlet to the oil pump to replicate the position on the car. This ensures that oil is gravity-fed to the pump.
