1985 911, 70,000 miles, recent broken stud
On ebay, '85 911 Euro, 70,000 miles, with recent "suspected broken cylinder head stud".....car is in Puerto Rico so not easily seen. Anyone care to describe from least to worst case scenario what fixing this could entail? Also, anyone know current cost for complete rebuild of this type of engine? Thx and regards, Gene

Biggest thing is getting it out of pueto Rico
Do a top end rebuild and change the studs to steel. The cost is what you agree to and where you get it done. Bruce |

Most people don't want to quote numbers. I'll throw some out and then others may chime in with better figures.
Top end rebuild $8k to $10k minimum. If pistons, cylinders and heads are reusable. Total rebuild, and I am guessing, from $15k to $20K. Or more, if there are damaged parts. Now, if you could do the work yourself, and there are no damaged parts, much less $.
