Crank Gears Evaluation

As I was completing my 3.0 teardown I found my intermediate shaft timing gear was missing a tooth:

Thankfully there was no sign of any carnage from a stray chunk of aluminum in the bottom end components. Having had the car for a year I can only assume it ended up at the bottom of the sump and flushed out during an oil change. Lucky!

How do I determine if my crank timing gear has suffered any damage from the missing tooth and evaluate its overall health?

Similar question for the distributor drive gear. Both gears on the crank appear normal at first glance.

If I must replace these I would like to hand new ones to the machine shop so they can install them while they check the crank.

Thanks in advance.

IM gears come in a couple sizes. You're fortunate yours appears to be a "0". The "1" size is a little harder to come by, NLA I think.

I have a spare intermediate gear if you need one. PM me

I have decided to replace both my crank and intermediate shaft gears with new ones so they can wear together. Also will be replacing the distributor drive gear. I will be providing new gears as well as all the different sizes of circlips to my machine shop so they can install the appropriate clip.

Is there any reason to replace the crank spacer ring if its only function is to be a spacer?

No reason the replace the spacer but goo idea changing the gears-that tooth almost
certainly broke as a result of debris.

There is no reason to replace the gear on the crank. The aluminum gear does all the wearing. The steel gear is just polished, not worn.
