Compression and leak down numbers - look good?

Hello all, I just wanted to give an update on my rebuild that I was fortunate enough to have had this board to help me through. I got my compression and leak down test results back and they look pretty good to me. Do these numbers look good to you?

Readings like that for leakdown dont get any better. Are you sure #3 isn't seized. Ha Ha. Thanks Rob

I'm pretty pleased. I would not even have began to think about doing the rebuild myself without this board and Wayne's book.

Any numbers prior to?

Heck under 10% of each other is pretty damn good

Did you rebuild using Alusil cylinders?

Never seen 0 leakdown.

Check calibration of leakdown tester gauges. In any event they are great but 0 is impossible.

My thoughts too.

I built 100's of bearing housings for jet engines that used a piston ring with an overlapping gap like TotalSeal rings. Never had one show zero

Yes, the gauges have to be calibrated to read exactly the same for a given test psig to give an accurate leakdown %.

Maybe he used #3 as the base line??? 10-15% then the rest was under 3% of each other, which is amazing :D

I'll call the shop that did these. Should I be suspect of the other number?

DRACO A5OG 06-02-2016 09:56 AM

You can rent for free a Compression tester from your FLAPS and verify for yourself, just remember to pull the DME relay or pull Fuel Pump Fuse.

I bet those leak down numbers are the percentage of difference between them and he used #3 as a base line.
