Can 993 rocker shafts be used in 964 cam towers?

Can 993 rocker shafts be used in 964 cam towers?

I have a mechanical rocker setup on my race engine -- the 993 cam towers
had some scoring, so I sourced some 964 towers.

Can my 993 rocker shafts be used for the 964 tower, or do I need 964 specific ones.

I know the 993 were lubed by engine oil pressure, while the 964 are done with oil spray.

thanks,

Mike

Pretty sure I built a 930 with 964 towers, but that was awhile back.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

The 993 cam carrier has oil line feed to support the hydraulic rockers. The rockers individually bolt to the carrier unlike any setup for rockers previously.
The 964 carrier won't support the hydraulic rockers

What got scored? One or more of the cam journals?

As a guess, perhaps you could use the solid rockers from the 993, but you'd need the regular 964 (and earlier, no?) shafts and pinch bolts.

The 993 setup is a much better mousetrap, so I'd concentrate in fixing your 993 towers, as they are a much better mousetrap. If I had the $, I'd go to the trouble of adapting 993 towers to my much earlier 911 race motors just to take the pain out of R&Ring all those rockers.
