Case stud installation
During disassembly, two of the sump studs and one of the camshaft housing studs came out of the case with the nut that was on them. I got replacements, but I'm wondering what the installation procedure is here. Thanks in advance.

Clean the receiving female threads with an actual thread chaser (don't use a typical high speed steel cutting tap for making brand new holes, for the M6x1.0 sump and M8x1.25 cam housing holes) or make your own thread cleaner by cutting lengthwise slots with a fine cutoff wheel in sacrificial bolts.
Use a low strength threadlocker like typical Loctite blue and sink the new studs all the way down (or as far as they'll go w/out excessive effort) and back them out a 1/4 turn.

Thanks a lot. Why is it important not to use a regular tap?

A regular tap will remove metal making the tread fit looser than it needs to be.
When you cut the grove in a sacrificial bolt make sure that you get all the burs off. AHIK.

What should I use to cut the bolt?

You cut a "clean out bolt" or a "thread chasing bolt" with a 3 corner (or triangular) hand file. Run the file parallel to the bolt to cut out a "V" shaped "notch" for the trash to occupy. When you look down at the end of the bolt with the head of the bolt in your fingers, the end should look like a pizza with a missing slice but tapering to a whole pizza pie several threads down towards the head of the bolt. That's the best I can explain it.

I used a cutoff wheel on my high speed grinder.
