Corroded 2.2 case - how far does the brass pipe go?

My 1970 2.2 case has some corrosion on the outside of the oil galley - the tubular bit with the fine ribs. One spot is pitted quite deeply. I can see further along that there is a brass pipe moulded into the case within this, but I can't see how far it extends. Does this brass pipe extend the full extent of the magnesium tube or does it stop? If it stops then I will need to weld up the magnesium because the case will be very thin here. If however it extends then I'm not concerned by the pitting and I'll leave it. In fact, to weld it would more likely cause harm by destroying the brass tube.

This is a common problem. In the later aluminum cases the tube is steel for the full length with the casting junctions visible near the ends. Can you share a pic of the corrosion?

Look at the oil passage / pipe from the inside to see how close this corrosion is to the end of the tube. It might be close to the corroded part, which could be concerning. If there is tube inside of that corroded crater, I might be less concerned. If there isn't tube inboard of the crater, you might be able to assess the depth of the crater compared to ID to see if you have an issue with the magnesium being too thin.
