Running problem Cam guestions?
I have a supposed 2.7 Anderson spec engine built on a 7r case. Engine wont rev out past 5000 and after going through the carbs and ignition I deceided to look at the cam timing. Both cams have a S stamped on the ends. Checked the right side first 5.2 at TDC and looking at the flats on the ends of the cam there pretty close to straight up. Left side is way late, like 30 degress past TDC till I get to 5.0 lift so I figure I'll reset it which I did. Now at TDC the left cam flats are pretty far off from vertical and I am afraid it not an S cam.? Anyone run into this before?

Sounds like your measurement method is off. Remember the valve lift measurement is taken on TDC overlap.
Go through the entire sequence of checking the cam timing again. Post some pictures. |
cam timing
Yes I rechecked today and I think something went wrong with initial check. Because I didn't know what cams were really in the engine I thought I would try and check with opening and closing of the intake to make sure what they were. After that check I realized I wasted time because of my initial mistake so they are S cams and are now in time. Thx for the reply
