I use bore brushes and bottle brushes for the oil galleries. Speaking of cleaning, don't forget to clean out the perimeter bolt holes. If you don't, when you assemble the case halves, the perimeter studs scrape off old sealant from inside those holes and they fall onto the sealing surface. Those crumbs are not that "squishy" and I think they may hold the case apart some. I do not go for "OMG, that's clean!" on the outside of the motor like some of you do. Be ready to take out a 2nd mortgage. A used Cold Jet will run you 15-20k but then you need a compressor that will do 75 scfm or so at 100 psi.

Yeh I already looked into it. There's a site that has classifieds for used dry ice blasting equipment even used they are still $10,000 and up, not to mention the screw compressor. Looks like a great way to clean!!!

You mean, not everyone has a Kaiser screw compressor lying around?

I had a dry ice blaster for that but it's not that good on a 72 magnesium case and it's super expensive to run...cost about $350 for a dry ice delivery which you have to use up within 2 days (it just melts away) tried it once and it was fun but sold it after that
