1980 Sc 3.0 rebuit or swap Questions for specialists
Hi Guys,
I read many post and i want help to make a decision on my 1980 SC Targa 3.0 Facts: I live in Canada and do not really have recommendations for a possible mechanics to do the job My skills as mechanics are oki but i never rebuilt an engine i did the basic brakes, suspension, timing belt etc... My motor still works very good, compression running etc. the problem is the various leaks on the motor that came really bad lately. Puddle on the floor everyday. I know that the valve lifter's seal a worn because when i let the car sits for few weeks it will burn oil that is dropping in the cylinder for like 5 minutes. Big smoke The motor is in a need of a good overhaul. Questions: I prefer to rebuilt than a motor swap because then a rebuilt i end up with a greater value on my car and no surprises on an already used motor right? Is there places where i could send the motor for a complete rebuilt and what should i expect in fees. Any experiences with that? Knowing my mechanical capability is this something you guys suggest i do myself ? Any other recommendations are welcome. Pierre Carl |

I would not recommend learning to rebuild a motor on a 911.
However, you should get Wayne's "How to rebuild 911 motors" and see what is required to do the job. |
