If you Start Me Up I'll Never Stop, Never Stop
I may have asked this in the early goings but now it is start up time on the 3.0 now in my 914-6 conversion.
I had Webcam refurb the cams to a 20/21 grind set at 1.9-2.2mm w.1mm lashto address Weber 40's and a recurved stock distributor w/o vacuum advance. Valve lash is .004 on both I&E / Lift is .485 on Intake and .452 pm Exh / duration on I is .258 degrees and .452 on Exh. / Maybe too much info but my question now is this: what is the best setup for the innards of the Webers as to jets, venturi's, emulsions tubes, etc for initial start me up? I noted what was in the carbs when I rebuilt them so for comparison, I wonder if anyone out there has experience with a 3.0 SC rebuilt similarlly or close and can give direction on carb set up for the Start Me Up phase so I will Never Stop, never Stop , Never Never Never stop...... Sidebar: I have only seen the Stones twelve times but I am sure they have consumed more fuel (drugs) than all of my Porsche cars combined.. and that is saying something as I have had many over 40+ years of this addiction to fuel.... ![]() |

Hi,
I would run: 36mm venturis 155 mains 180 air 55 idle F26 emulsion tubes (you can also use F3's, but I'd use 150 mains with those). Remember, you must finalize jetting on a dyno once everything is all adjusted and running smoothly. 30-32 deg total timing should be OK with your 91 octane fuel.
