Distributor Drive Gears

Dose anyone have any detailed information about the variation in distributor drive gears used on 911 distributors.

I have looked at various websites and the 'best' information seems to be on the JB Racing site.

The difference in the diameter of the gear is interesting and I wondered if this could just be a tolerance issue.
