cams L or solex
once installed, is there any easy way to tell if my early cams are L or solex. These were shipped to me by comp engineering about 1980 and installed in my 2.5 then a 2.7 my mechanic said that stamped porsche numbers did not match later E or S cams but they had lots of lift. I will be having valves adjusted soon. thanks for any insight Henry

But if he couldn't tell what the cams were, how did he set the lift
L cams were basically the E cams of later years. The Solex are less than the S cam lift, but, very nice and strong. Bruce |

I wondered about that also. He said the numbers on the cams were not in his book wasn't sure what they were but he's been setting cam timing on these cars for years, maybe measured the lift before installation and set them where he thought they should be. He did screw with it for extended period. And it runs great. I think L is identical to E except for stamped numbers? Henry
