3.2 Rebuild Help please

Hi. I just bolted my engine case together after weeks of worying about the Loctite and whether I could do it or not. Well, I think it worked out OK but....

With 25 ft-lbs of torque on the case nuts (M8) the aluminum washers crushed substantially, which I had read, they are supposed to. I've been reading in the forum that I probably should have not used the ones in the Pelican hardware kit but some others with harder alloy.

My question is, should I not worry about them as they are supposed to squish or should I replace each stud with a new type washer and new nyloc nut?

Thanks

Hi Mike - if you need some guides for the procedure, check out our DIY section (link below) - there are several write ups and tips for when rebuilding the engine. Please let us know if you have any other questions. I'm also moving this thread to the rebuild forum to get more eyes on it. Best of luck!

M8 should be about 18Lbs, 25 is over tourquing and things start to distort.

M8 tightening torque spec . 25 NM = 18.44 FT. LBS.
