Oil Leak - Should i be concerned?

i have the motor out of my 964 on the stand. the other day i flipped it vertically, 1-3 bank straight down and 4-6 bank straight up. oil started coming out from between the cam tower and the chain housing, where the camshaft goes through. i know there is an o-ring an a gasket in between there. it does not seem logical that oil should come out from there. quite a bit of oil too. i flipped it the other way to see what would happen and some oil came out, but not nearly as much as on the other side.
is this normal? doesn't seem to me like it should leak through there. i'll have to remove the chain gears, ramps, etc to get to that and fix/change those gaskets and o-rings
any suggestions are appreciated

I am no expert, but I would say this is okay since there probably was residual oil left in the sump of the engine case. So, when you flipped it that extra oil ran out.

Like I said, I am no expert so hopefully if I am wrong about this someone will correct me on this topic.

Good luck with the build.SmileWavy

Just confused about what stage you're at... what covers are on or off the engine? I don't think you should be getting any oil out if the engine is 100% assembled. Could the oil be running from somewhere else, and it just seems like its coming from that joint?

Don't worry about it, it is just residue/oil left over in the case. Now you know. Welcome to rebuilding :-)

sorry i should elaborate
i pulled the motor to fix some leaks, change trans mount and change the clutch fork. the engine is still intact. it is not being rebuilt.
here is a pic. i flipped it over as it sits and oil was coming out as described before. logic tells me no oil should be coming out from there

There should be no oil from that joint. It would be leaking from there when it's running also.
