Con-Rod Big End Bearings

Hi Pelicans,

I don't mean to re-start old threads/topics & discussions about Big End Bearing Shells but I am struggling to find any that are available.

I have heard the stories about Glyco having issues with their manufacturing procedures which is one of the causes for the apparent lack of these parts. One supplier here in Germany has been waiting for deliveries since Sept 16.

So, can any of you recommend a company that ACTUALLY has them in stock please? A few of my normal go to places still show them as available, only to then Email after purchase to advise on a delay. This is really annoying!

Alternatively, does anyone know of a different manufacturer that has availability?

The details;

1977 911S 2,7
Bearing Shell Part Number; 914 103 141 00 SET (Standard Size)

If anyone has a new set for sale I am ready to buy immediately.

Cheers,
Jason.

jase77,
I just bought a set 2.7L standard size Clevite race (Automobile Associates Clevites) bearings from EBS on 6/6/17

DON'T buy the glyco's. There are numerous threads on their quality control etc. No need to rehash here just do a pelican search.

Hwgeek,

Thanks, I have seen the same reviews about the Glyco's quality issues too. Looks like it will be the Clevite's for me.

glyco

NO problems with GLYCO now.
In europe we have the glyco from poland and never had issues.
The problem was the Bearings from south africa.

I'm not sure I agree with you on this.. I bought a set from our host last year, and they were from Poland... when measuring them, they were all quite different. Pelican took them back and I went and bought Genuine Porsche from the dealer... and all measured in spec.

OK fellas,

Without meaning to open a big can of worms, has anyone found issues with their Glyco main and intermediate bearings? I have these but haven't had chance to check them yet? Thought It better to put this out there before i start on my re-assembly.

Glyco main & IS bearings seem to be OK for now.

Here's my experience with Glyco inner IMS bearings a few years ago. Not sure if they've started packing them better these days.

New Glyco Inner IMS Bearings - unusable?

I've had that same issue with Porsche factory bearings from a dealer so I'm VERY particular about inspecting each one before I leave the dealership.

Nobody is very careful with things anymore.

My main bearings from Poland were fine and I had also asked Henry Schmidt what they use, and they use the glycos for main bearings.
It does seem to be a glyco SA for conrod bearings

I just ran into an issue with the Glyco rod bearings on a 3.6 The rod would not turn at all on the crank when installed, not even torqued just hand tight. Unbelievable!

The Clevite rod bearings are excellent. OK, much more expensive but far superior in quality and dimensional tolerances. Glad I went for these in the end.

The Glyco main bearings measured in tolerance and were looking good. No burrs, marks or sharp edges etc. The Glyco IMS bearings measured OK but needed a fair bit of cleaning up before I fitted them. No damage from poor packaging, they just looked as if they were put into the boxes without a final QC check.
