What to do while engine out

Hi.
I am sure this question is answered in bits and pieces all over the forums, but perhaps not all.

I bought a toy...1955 Triumph TR2 and the love of my life paid me back by breaking a head stud. 8(
1980 SC. So now the question is what to do while this is being fixed to minimise both current and future cost. I do not want to do a full rebuild as the engine is in super original condition.

The current state of the car is:
180 000 km and can still reach 235kph on the clock.
Acceleration is stellar and the engine spins extremely freely and eagerly.
The gearbox has a very worn 1st synchro, but 2nd is ok-ish and the others are fine. A positive shifting attitude shows no problems there either. So all in all there does not seem anything wrong as such in the drive train. I did pick up a clutch judder recently which most people seem to say can be mountings, clutch cable, pilot bearing or worst case a broken fork? Its not undrivable though and the judder is variable. Mostly evident when pulling off uphill or on lower gears if I shift slowly at the point where the clutch bites.

The work.
I know this really means stud/s (lower, upper or both??), rings and valve work.
I guess at the same time Clutch and its bearings.
But besides these basic things I do not know enough to determine what I should perhaps look at at the same time. Since cost is somewhat of an issue I do not want to look at something that is preventative, but unnecessarily so.

Any advice would be most welcome.

Clean the engine compartment and replace the no doubt heat hardened, crumbly, and shredded sound deadening insulation pad on the firewall. Cheap stuff to do and somewhat difficult with the engine in place. Have a good look at fuel and brake lines. Both these items are far more difficult with the engine in place.
