Boxster 2004

i post this msg and ques to wayne. i own a 2004 2.7 base. i noticed when i was starting the car on first gear, their is a diff't noise other than the engine, almost a squeeling sound. the car runs but that sound is new. i also notice an oil leak on the garage floor - clear oil. i removed the cover of the car underneath so i can see the source of leak. i will attach a photo of where it leaks - it is a slow drip from one of the tubes behind driver side to the left, in front of the rear left wheel. i am hoping you can advise me of solution, what causes this leaks, what damage if any it has caused, and if this was whats causing the sqeeling sound, and finally, what you recommend i shld do. best regards, and thank you.

i bought your book, in the hope of better maintaining my car and give me an answer to this question.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500925118.JPG

Leak -- I'm guessing power steering lines. Check the power steering reservoir drivers side front of engine on the top -- it's a small container with an inherent dipstick in the cap.

Squealing -- without hearing it -- might be hard to tell -- But the starter failing to disengage
will give you an unusual sound when starting -- then goes away.

i checked the front - saw two: 1- brakefluid port 2- washer/wiper fluid. i did not find steering fluid port. i checked the back - saw three: 1- with dipstick to oil check levels 2- oil 3 - might be coolant. i have attached photos of front and back.

re squeeling - i hear it after i rev the car on first gear, or second gear. when running on the road on higher gear - sound is not heard. the at starts fine, inly when i hit the gas on a liw gear do i hear the sound.

thank you.

can i open the leaking valve and clean the clogged line?

Here's a picture from another site.

The reservoir is on the top of your engine.

You should google how to get at your engine.
Be sure to look up the proper power steering fluid for when you have to add more.
Replacing the power steering line is challenging due to limited access.

I would try to find a decent Indy who knows boxsters to do the PS lines as well as help with the squeal diagnosis.
